FOR YOUR INFORMATION - SHIFT CHANGE: RUMORS v FACTS

I would like to dispel any rumors circulating within the FOP membership concerning Shift Changes. The following is the status:

There has been NO DECISION between the FOP and the Police Commissioner concerning an alternative work schedule.

Using an existing provision of the Contract a Shift Change Study Committee has been formed to analyze the current shift and review possible alternatives. This group is comprised of representatives from the FOP and the City.

It is anticipated that the FOP and City will be in contact in the near future to open discussions regarding any possible Shift Change in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement (Contract) between the City and the FOP.

At this time the FOP believes that our members approve of the current shift and its current form. The need for a shift change will have to be demonstrated by the City to the FOP.
